Explore the types of accommodations and resources available, based on your specific needs, to make your LSU journey exceptional.
Need Accommodations?
The first step to receiving accommodations on campus is to register with Disability Services.
Academic Accommodations
Our Academic Accommodations are designed to remove barriers caused by disabilities, ensuring all students have equal access and the opportunity to fully participate in academic programs and services. Your specific disability and documentation provided during registration will determine the types of accommodations you receive. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Interpreting and Captioning Services
- Note-taking support
- Extended testing time, distraction-reduced environment
- Alternate formats for course materials, assistive technology
- Accommodations for Placement Tests, Graduate Entrance Exams, and other professional exams
Disability Services Testing Center
Located in Johnston Hall, the DS Testing Center provides a space where you can utilize your approved testing accommodations with confidence.
Whether you are approved for extra time for your exam, need a quiet space, or something else, get started by registering for services.
Note-taking Services
GLEAN is a web-based app that supports students with a range of disabilities. Approved students use GLEAN for a full text record and audio of class content. You can capture transcribed text, linked to specific moments in the recording.
DS also provides peer note-taking. Students can volunteer to be a note taker by submitting a Notetaker Application.
Glean ensures that all information remains the intellectual property of the faculty and neither shares it nor integrates it into its AI model. Students using this accommodation must sign a confidentiality agreement, pledging not to disclose any information obtained from Glean in any form. Violations of this agreement will be referred to Student Advocacy & Accountability.
E-Texts or Alternative Formats for Textbooks
If you require textbooks in alternative formats, our team can help you access the format you are approved for. Depending on your accommodation, this could include large print, tactile images, PDF, or ePub.
After you register and are approved for this accommodation, visit the Alternative Formats tab in the Student Access Portal.
Bookshare is a free resource for students with disabilities.
LSU Library is a free resource for all students.
RedShelf is a resource that provides discounted textbooks. RedShelf also includes specialized textbooks, such as law materials.
