Timely Warnings
It is the goal of the LSU Police Department and the University to keep the campus community informed of serious incidents. These timely warning messages are part of our commitment to provide campus-area crime information as outlined in the Clery Act (Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act), which is a federal mandate that requires all colleges and universities that receive federal funding to disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses.
Timely warning messages will be posted when a significant criminal incident occurs within the Clery geography and represents a serious or continuing threat to the community.
Decisions to disseminate a warning will be decided on a case-by-case basis in regards to all of the facts surrounding the crime and the danger to the campus community. The purpose of the warning is to aid in the prevention of similar crimes by alerting the community about the incident and by providing information on the actions people can take to diminish their chances of becoming a victim.
Sign up for emergency alerts here. Students, faculty, and staff may enter one email address and one phone number to receive these timely alerts. Non LSU may download the LSU Mobile app to receive alerts.
