Louisiana State University is approved by The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as an eligible institution for utilizing VA Education Benefit Programs.
- After applying, the VA will issue a letter of eligibility determination by mail; usually within 4-6 weeks.
- Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Enrollment Certification and Registration processes required each semester.
- If your class schedule changes, email a correction to va@lsu.edu and they can make the correction.

Title 29
Louisiana offers education assistance to surviving spouses of deceased veterans as
well as children of veterans rated with 90% or more service-connected disability and
children of veterans rated with 100% service-connected disability due to unemployability.

Disbursement
Any Housing Stipends will be sent to the bank account you have saved on va.gov.
Housing Stipend Amounts
If class begins on the 23rd of the month then you will get a prorated amount on the
1st of the following month. After that you will get the full housing allotment.
Once you are certified at the beginning of the semester, you will continue to receive your housing stipends throughout the semester.
Chapter 35
Title 29 doesn’t provide a housing stipend. Federally, Chapter 35 provides a housing
stipend for dependents of disabled veterans. Apply on va.gov.

Chapter 31
If you have a disability rating of 10% or above you may be eligible for Chapter 31 vocational rehabilitation.
Veterans and service members may be eligible for one credit hour for every four months of active duty, with a maximum of 12 credit hours for four years of active duty.
