Biography
Dr. Edward Gibbons is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Louisiana State University, a former U.S. Marine, and an educator with executive and consulting experience in operations management, workforce development, and leadership coaching. His professional focus is on teaching, mentoring, and developing future HR leaders.
At LSU, Dr. Gibbons teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Human Resource Development, covering topics such as process analysis, organizational behavior, leadership development, and career transitions. His research interests center on veterans transitioning from the armed services into higher education and the workforce. In support of this, he developed LHRD 1776, an orientation course designed specifically for veterans entering LSU.
Before transitioning into academia full-time, Dr. Gibbons worked in executive leadership and consulting, leveraging his expertise in organizational diagnosis, performance improvement, and strategic workforce development. He previously consulted with Success Labs, where he helped companies in the industrial sector with leadership development, executive coaching, organizational development, and succession planning. His coaching experience includes work with Fortune 500 and 1000 companies such as Fluor Federal Petroleum, CF Industries, Genesis Energy, Albemarle Corporation, and Axiall Corporation.
Dr. Gibbons holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Tulane University, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from LSU. He serves as Undergraduate Program Coordinator for the LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development, a board member for the Greater Baton Rouge Society of Human Resource Management, and a former Faculty Senator for the LSU College of Human Sciences and Education.
