The student does independent reading under the direction and guidance of the appropriate faculty director, meeting together at least three times during the fall/spring semesters, or once during the summer. The student prepares a written report, e.g., project, essay, bibliography, etc., to be submitted for evaluation by both the faculty director and the student’s advisor.

Research conducted by School of Information Studies personnel inherently reflects on the status and image of the School. Any research study done by faculty, staff or students of the School that involves gathering data through the use of questionnaires, interviews or other contact with individual respondents must have prior approval of the Director. The Director may consult with individual faculty members, the faculty as a whole, or other knowledgeable and involved persons in evaluating proposed research. Research projects must also meet the criteria and procedures set forth by the University for research involving human subjects.
