LSU provides a wide array of training opportunities for employees. In addition, the HRM Training & Organizational Development division provides professional development and can collaborate with departments to assess needs and develop strategies that enhance individual, team, and overall organizational effectiveness.

Management Foundation Series
This series is for new and/or existing supervisors, as well as those individuals interested in supervising. Each course can be taken as a stand alone class, or as a full series and complete the capstone assessment to receive a certificate of completion.
Climbing The Career Ladder Series
This series is designed to help employees develop a career strategy, master professional skills and make the most of their LSU careers. The training program will be a combination of hour-long training sessions, coaching sessions, and online resources. The series offers participants an opportunity to engage in thoughtful self-assessments, career exploration and planning, and develop skills in the areas of business etiquette, networking, self-branding, and interviewing.
Customer Service
Customer Service is challenge at every level! Learn to identify the things customers are looking for in great service and how to develop those skills in your everyday interactions!
Taking Back Your Time
Feel like there isn’t enough time in the day to do everything? This class focuses on priorities, modifying our to do lists and forming habits. We will discuss what priorities are, how to distinguish them, and determining your priorities in and outside the workplace. This class also walks through your to do list, modifying it to suit your needs, then determining a set time to manage it regularly. Finally we learn about habits, evaluating them, and forming new ones to build a routine that suits you.
Leadership and Management
LEAD LSU is a leadership development program designed to enhance the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities of LSU’s most important resources, its employees. The program focuses on building and enhancing leadership skills which support the University’s strategic objectives. The program is open to high performing faculty, unclassified and classified staff members with demonstrated leadership potential.
Group Dynamics
DiSC® is a personal assessment tool used by more than one million people every year to help improve teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace. The DiSC Workplace profile or the DiSC Management Profile can be provided, based on the need of the unit. There is a cost associated with the DiSC assessment. Managers and team members may also be provided with comparison reports to further improve teamwork.
Retreats
The Training & Organizational Development team provides various possibilities for retreats. From team building to strategic planning, a few hours or a full day – we can work with you to develop exactly what you’re looking for.
Developing and Implementing an Outward Mindset
This 2-day workshop reveals the distinct mindsets from which people and organizations operate – a self-focused inward mindset and an others-inclusive outward mindset. Participants learn how to turn outward by 1) shifting their mindsets, 2) equipping themselves with tools to adjust their behaviors in accordance with their changed mindsets, and 3) helping leaders to turn organizational systems and processes outward in order to invite and reward sustained, systematic change. There is a per person cost associated with this workshop. The 2-day format can also be broken down into a timeframe that works best for the unit.

Elements Resources
Elements is an online software solution for vita management. It allows for robust faculty activity data collection, maintenance and reporting on the teaching, research and service activities of LSU’s faculty.
Mandatory Training
In order to remain knowledgeable about important policies and procedures, and to stay in compliance to state and federal regulations, all LSU employees are required to complete the following mandatory training e-courses.

- The LSU Office of Emergency Preparedness offers training on a variety of topics to faculty and staff. These topics include Active Shooter Training, Emergency Operations Training, Continuity of Operations training, Medical Response training, and 911 Cellular Desktop Panic Alarm Procedure training. Tuition Exemption
Tuition exemption is an educational benefit designed to help full-time faculty and staff enhance their skills, knowledge, and career advancement. To qualify, employees must hold a permanent, full-time position, have at least one year of service, and receive approval from their supervisor and department head.
HPC Training
HPC@LSU offers High Performance Computing training to LSU and LONI users. Courses are available on MPI, OpenMP, and other true parallel programming topics. Please visit HPC Training for more information.

The Faculty Technology Center (FTC) provides IT support, consultations, and innovative solutions to faculty and graduate teaching assistants tailored to their individual teaching, research, and operational needs.

QuickHelp is a free, user-friendly site designed to help LSU employees make the most of the Microsoft applications. There are skill paths designed to give insight into Microsoft Teams, Excel, OneDrive, Outlook, and more.
